Ethosuximide-induced Lupus and discontinuation of carbamazepine treatment when Lupus is suspected: two paediatric cases
Clinical Case, 54 - 57Tag this article
Drug-Induced Lupus Erythematosus (DILE) is an underestimated condition. We report 2 paediatric patients with DILE: the first patient showed clinical and laboratory evidence of ethosuximide- induced LE while the second subject on chronic treatment with carbamazepine was found with abnormal laboratory findings suggestive for DILE. In both patients clinical features and laboratory abnormalities resolved after drug discontinuation. These cases are discussed in the light of the pertinent literature in the paediatric age group.
